Reel 01 - The Land of Variety
2012 - 6 mins (HD)
Instead of a video containing several clips of my various
shooting and editing work, I prefer to use this clip as my reel.
I visualized, shot, edited and color-corrected it (using FCP/Color Corrector).
In the Video Portfolio Section you can
see more examples of work done by me in my long career, as a Director,
Cameraman and Editor.
By the way, the train conductor shown in the clip is me ... a cameo.
An artist is not paid for his labor but for his vision.
In June 2012, two journalists, Beppe Severgnini an Italian and Karl Hoffman a German who lives in Italy, have embarked on a 3 week
journey across 18 US States by train to gather the various vibes and the feelings of the people during its presidential elections year. They started in Portland, ME and ended in Portland, OR.
Along with the director
Andrea Salvadore and the producer Soledad Ugolinelli I filmed that journey for a 100 minutes documentary "Atlantic - Pacific, The Last Train For Obama", which I also edited, produced by
Ruvido Produzioni-Romaa in partnership with the
Corriere della Sera and the
Goethe-Institut, and aired on September 2012 in prime time on
La7, an Italian network.
In memory of that trip, and inspired by a
Bruce Springsteen song "Land of Hope and Dreams", which is also about a journey by train into the "Promised Land", I freely conceived and edited this clip / teaser, to honor my only Boss and mentor, to share with all my Blood Brothers and Sisters and also to show you in all modesty that I am also a pro.
Beppe Severgnini is an author and a columnist for the "Corriere della Sera" the major newspaper in Italy. Karl Hoffman is the correspondent from Italy for the
ARD-German TV.
